Why Use Cloth Wipes?:
Figuring out what types of wipes you are going to use with cloth diapers is often something that is often overlooked by parents when choosing to cloth diaper. With several options for wiping their baby, parents often choose cloth wipes when thinking about the practicality and cost effectiveness.

Cloth wipes are much easier to use with cloth diapers: they don't have to be stored in a separate location after use, generally you do not have to use as many compared to disposable wipes, they can be washed and reused, and they are more natural and soft for your baby's bum.

Cloth wipes can be stored pre-moistened in a wipe warmer or used on-demand (bottle of solution that you squirt on a dry wipe when needed). Keep in mind that a wipe warmer will have to be cleaned out occasionally and pre-moistened wipes are predisposed to getting bacteria if left too long. When out on the go, just pre-moisten a few wipes to take along or buy a little squirt bottle with a cover in the travel section at Target of Wal-Mart.

If you are using cloth wipes on-demand, the best method is using the Peri-Bottle that you received from the hospital after giving birth to keep your solution in. You don't have to squirt the bottle numerous times like you would with a squirt bottle, just give your Peri-Bottle a little squeeze and your cloth wipe is saturated.

What Do I Think?:
Baby Blessings Natural Products sent us their pack of Gerber Cloth Wipes and Organic Lavender and Tea Tree Essential Oil to test out in our cloth diapering process. We had been using homemade baby wipes out of paper towels with Lauren because they were more cost-effective. When I started using cloth diapers, I realized how inconvenient it was to store the dirty wipes and diapers in two separate locations. Baby Blessings has a recipe for cloth wipes solution that incorporates the Tea Tree Essential Oil. I noticed right away after using the cloth wipes that the Tea Tree Oil in the solution helped decrease the amount of 'stink' in our diaper pail. I even put a little drop in our Wahmies Wet Bag to reduce the amount of odor when out on the go!The Gerber Cloth Wipes are amazing! I was not sure what type of cloth wipe to use but Baby Blessings helped by explaining how various different styles of cloth wipes will show wear and tear after several washes and the Gerber Cloth Wipes will hold up longer. I have washed the cloth wipes multiple times and their durability is great. As opposed to cloth wipes with binding around the edges, the Gerber Cloth Wipes will hold up much longer...as you can see from the picture below of a cloth wipe with a binding.
