They are USA owned and operated being nuzzled into a small town in Colorado which helps to reduce their carbon footprint. Many of their mom-employees are able to work from the comfort of their home! Although they say that they are a small but growing business, Thirsties is well-known around the cloth diaper world.

Thirsties are best known for their use of micro-fleece on their diapers that is soft to the touch. In addition, their infamous leg gussets are a valuable feature.

Furthermore, Thirsties donates to Miracle Diapers which helps provide free or low-cost diapers to those in need.

Thirsties sent us the amazing NEW duo-diaper in Orchid and Pre-Wash and Super-Wash to test out with Lauren and in our washing routine.
FEATURES:
The duo-diaper is unlike any pocket diaper that you have seen. With openings in the front and back, this diaper is like a sleeve that you put your insert into. The front of the diaper cover has three rows of snaps that allow you to adjust the rise of the diaper thus only requiring two different sizes from birth to potty-training. Leg gussets on the side ensure that your mess will not leak out. The insert comes in two separate pieces: a microfiber and hemp insert. These inserts snap together to provide seven layers in all. The microfiber side is worn towards the baby's bottom serving as a quick absorber while the hemp acts as a stable absorber.

If you love the fit of the duo diaper, they also have a duo wrap that is the same fit and serves as a diaper cover to your favorite fitted diapers or prefolds.SIZING FOR THE DUO-DIAPER:
Size 1: 6-18lbs. (0-9 months)
Size 2: 18-40lbs. (9-36+months)WASHING CARE AND USE: Prewash and dry insert 3 times before initial use for maximum absorbency; very important to make sure that you both wash and dry. Place soiled and wet diapers in dry diaper pail. Rinse on cold with 1/2 ounce of Pre-Wash and then run a regular cycle on Hot with 1/2 ounce of Super-Wash detergent. All products can be placed in the dryer although it is recommended to air dry, especially the cover for a longer life-span.

Because the duo diaper has a pocket sleeve with openings at the front and back, there is no need to shake the insert out of the pocket. The insert will agitate itself out in the wash.

You may notice the the two inserts are different sizes after washing with the hemp insert being a little longer. This is normal and will help to cradle the inserts with the baby's natural contour of their body.
WHAT DO I THINK?: I am really impressed with the size and absorpency of the duo-diaper. It is easy to stuff the insert into the sleeve with an opening on each side as well. For being a sized diaper, I can tell that Lauren will get a lot of wear out of it because of the snaps in the front and velcro closure. I am absolutely in love with leg gussets! One of the main reasons that we made the switch from disposables to cloth was because of the amount of blow-outs that she was having each day. The leg gussets work great to keep everything inside of the diaper and prevent leaks.

The Pre-Wash and Super-Wash laundry detergent work great. I love being able to put some product into the rinse cycle to help rid the soiled diapers of stains. Because Lauren is exclusively breastfed, we do not rinse off her soiled diapers before placing in the dry diaper pail. By using the Pre-Wash and Super-Wash, I feel assured that the poop is removed from the diapers and ready to be used when the cycle is complete. Also, so often I do not have a free hand when doing laundry. The Pre-Wash and Super-Wash come in liquid format. All you have do is unscrew the cap and squeeze the bottle to fill the measuring cup attached to the top...definitely very easy to do with one hand!

In addition to testing out Thirsties duo-diaper and laundry products, I also own their fab fitted diaper, diaper cover, and diaper pail liner...all of which I would highly recommend.

DADDY SCALE: 10! Hubby says he enjoys this sleeve diaper because he doesn't have to shake the insert out and it has velcro closure (which he enjoys best).
