The Language of Love and Respect Review

"The heart of the wise instructs his mouth" (Proverbs 16:23)

Remember my review of Dr. Emerson Eggerichs book 'Love & Respect'?? The Language of Love & Respect: Cracking the Communication Code with Your Mate is the 355 page follow-up to that book which provides a step-by-step approach for couples on how to better communicate with one another.

While 'Love & Respect' provided more a background of why wives should respect their husbands and husbands should love their wives, this book has practical application on how that can be done. What I really enjoy about this book is that it includes strategies for both husbands and wives while many other books have to be purchased in two separate formats.

Dr. Eggerichs uses acronyms to help couples learn how to better communicate with one another which makes it easier to remember when speaking to one another. For example, 'CHAIRS' outlines six ways that wives can respect their husbands. The 'A' stands for authority and discusses how Scripture talks about wives respecting their husband's authority and appreciate the husband's desire to serve and lead her and the family.

'Love & Respect: Cracking the Communication Code With Your Mate' can be purchased without first reading 'Love & Respect'. The first chapter summarizes the 'Love & Respect' book. I would recommend this book to any married couple that would like to work on their communication patterns with one another and learn how to respect and love each other better. Because the book discusses sexuality as a component of a relationship, I recommend it to married couples or those who are engaged.

I'm so excited to read this book, it's being sent to my house as we speak! I loved his first book, so I'm anxious to read this one.
