Making Birth Announcements on a Budget
>> 10/05/2009
Having a baby can definitely put a strain on your finances so I knew that I wanted to think of the most efficient and cheap way to make my baby announcements to send out to family and friends.
1. Find a picture that you would like to use for your announcement.2. Use photo editing software or a website to make changes. Picnik is a great free website that allows you to edit photos by adding text, borders, color changes, etc. to your photos.
3. Add text to include pertinent information about your new little bundle of joy.
4. Print the photo yourself at home or send it in to your local photo store to be printed off. I was able to print my photos at CVS for free by opening a new CVS Photo Account and getting 50 free 4x7 prints.
5. Use tape to attach the photo to card stock or send it out as a postcard and save some money on postage.
If you aren't interested in making your own announcements, be sure to watch your mailbox for great coupon deals at your local photo shops. Just the other day I received a coupon for 25 free birth announcements at Picture People which includes a free sitting fee. They are also offering a coupon for a free 8x10 or 10x13 plus 20% off additional portraits on their website.

Very Cute! I also made me birth annoucements for all of my kids!
Great idea! Such a cute pic!! This is similar to what I did for Kaelyn's 1st Birthday Invitations.
Great idea! I made my own announcements when Keagan was born and I actually liked them better than any i'd seen in the store or online!
