LilyPadz Review
>> 10/03/2009
Being a new breastfeeding mother, I was very excited when LilyPadz contacted me to review their product. LilyPadz are an alternative to cloth or disposable nursing pads and can be worn under your bra or WITHOUT a bra. They were created by a mother of three after she realized how costly nursing pads could be as well as uncomfortable and unsightly. Not only do they prevent milk leakage but they don't absorb it so they can last a lot longer than traditional nursing pads.
LilyPadz work by having a slightly sticky surface that contours directly to your skin. Since they don't absorb breast milk, they can last two months or longer saving you time and money versus purchasing disposable and reusable nursing pads.
Prior to receiving the LilyPadz, I had already purchased reusable and disposable nursing pads. I found out that the reusable nursing pads were not the right size for me and puckered up making my shirts look funny. The disposable nursing pads caused me to have an allergic reaction and several brands I had the same issue with puckering. So needless to say, I was a little nervous to try the LilyPadz after having no success with other kinds. I really like the LilyPadz though because they contoured directly to my skin making no puckering and I can easily walk around the house without my nursing bra especially while sleeping! When I do have some leakage, the LilyPadz don't leak and just collect it in the pad. When I take it off, I just tap it onto my burp cloth to get it off. In addition, LilyPadz are made with silicone which is not associated with any allergic reactions.
LilyPadz can be cleaned with clarifying shampoos or dish soaps. Just pump a few squirts on the tacky side, rub with your fingers, rinse off with warm water, and lay them out to dry. My only complaint with the LilyPadz is that I did notice I had to wash them frequently (at least 2-3 times/day) otherwise they would start to smell a little. They can also be sterlized in boiling water for 1-2 minutes or by using a 50/50 concentration of white vinegar and water for one hour, although boiling them will cause the tacky surface to wear down faster.
I highly recommend purchasing LilyPadz if you are or are going to be a nursing mother. These are definitely a money-saving alternative to nursing pads and will save you tons of time trying to find the reusable or disposable nursing pad that is right for you. LilyPadz can be purchased either online for $22.95 plus $4.95 for shipping and handling or in select locations.
I would love to hear if anyone else has tried LilyPadz and their reaction to them.
