Book Review of the Week: The Jesus Book
>> 8/06/2009
The ultimate who, what, when, where, and why book is what 'The Jesus Book' by Stephen Elkins is all about. The 96 page book and compact disc with 30 songs guides children to learn more about Jesus and his life and that is why I was glad to review it for the Thomas Nelson Book Review Bloggers Group.
The book uses specific scripture lessons and outlines the role that Jesus played in many people's lives throughout history as well as his purpose here on Earth. I really enjoyed reading through each question and corresponding answer that was provided in the book that I am sure many young children as well as adults have. For example, one question was 'Why was Jesus Sent?'. The book goes into detail using Luke 19:10 as reference to answer the question. I can see this book being a go-to-guide for my children when they are older especially with the helpful scripture and topical index at the end for easier referencing.
I would recommend this book to someone who is looking for a resource with answers to questions that their children have about Jesus and his life. The text is written for children around five years of age and up but the compact disc would provide an introduction for younger children about Jesus and familiarize them with him.
My rating: 4 out of 5 stars
