Read and Share Toddler Bible Review

>> 7/29/2009

I was thrilled to receive the 'Read and Share Toddler Bible' from the Thomas Nelson Publishing Group to review. Not only do I understand the importance of literacy with young child being a graduate student in Early Child Development, but also the significance of teaching my children about the Bible. It even includes a Toddler Bible DVD with fourteen different three minute stories! The Toddler Bible is by Gwen Ellis with illustrations by Steve Smallman (which are great!).

At first I was not sure if the text would be geared enough towards toddlers because it was rather wordy, but I was definitely wrong. The words and illustrations make each short story unique and easy for toddlers to remember. The wording is very interactive and corresponds to the illustrations making it very great for toddlers to point and follow along. Following each story is special section for parents about activities/crafts that can done together as a family in relation to the story. For example, following the story of Noah's Ark, is suggests parents to create rainbows with their children and talk about the significance of God's promise.

I would highly recommend this book to any parent of a toddler or child up to the age of five. I cannot wait to read this Bible with my little one and enjoy the activities together. I am sure that this book would spark many conversations between parents and young children and could be used as a great tool for family devotionals.
